Detox and Epsom Salt Baths
I thoroughly enjoy taking baths and find them incredibly soothing for both my body and mind.I’m sure many of us do! From a young age I remember enjoying the relaxation and comfort they provide, whether it was after a long day at school or to warm up after spending time outside in the English chilly weather. As time went on, I continued to embrace the therapeutic benefits of baths, using them as a way to unwind at the end of the day or find a moment of peace during the middle of the day. (Thank you nap time) And of course, I've found that baths can be particularly helpful in alleviating my back pain and reducing anxiety. For me, there's a sense of comfort and rejuvenation that comes from indulging in a bath, making it an integral part of my self-care routine.
Although I initially didn't fully understand the benefits of epsom salt baths, I simply knew that it made me feel good, and I also remembered that my grandparents used to do the same.
It was only later that I discovered why Epsom salts baths can promote relaxation and aid in detoxification. As part of my health journey, I am focused on reducing inflammation in my body as much as possible. This is particularly important for me due to a genetic mutation that affects my body's ability to methylate, which is different from most people.
I now know that Epsom salts contain minerals like magnesium and sulfate that support the body's detoxification processes. By incorporating them into my bath routine, I can enhance toxin removal and experience a greater sense of relaxation.
WHAT ARE EPSOM SALTS?
Epsom Salt is a naturally occurring mineral found in the ground, made up of magnesium and Sulfate. Magnesium is largely known as a muscle relaxant and Sulfate is a protein builder for your joints.
Studies have shown that both Magnesium and Sulfate are easily absorbed through the skin. This makes soaking or floating and ideal way to boost your magnesium levels. You will also yield the other health benefits it offers.
Epsom Salts are commonly used in the detoxification process. Through the skin by way of a bath. The sulfate component of Epsom Salts, helps in drawing the heavy metals and toxins out of your body. Absorbing Epsom Salts cutaneously is a very gentle way to detox.
Time to get the bad out and a good soak in an epsom salt bath will help tremendously! An epsom salt bath can also be great for:

HOW TO DO AN EPSOM SALT BATH
1) Run the water, not too hot that you sweat.
2) Add approximately 1 cup of fragrance free epsom salt to your bath (may need to increase or decrease depending on the size of your tub)
3) Immerse yourself in the water all the way up to your neck. You want as much of your body underwater as possible.
4) Add in a few drops of essential oil to the Epsom salts for bonus relaxation and muscle support. We love frankincense,(grounding and healing) Lavender (relaxation, wellness and muscles) Valor (muscles and healing ) ect. All of which come in the classic starter bundle.
HOW TO DO AN EPSOM SALT DETOX BATH-
1) Run the water hot enough that it will make you sweat, but not so hot that you won’t be able to stand it
2) Add approximately 2 cups of epsom salt to your bath (may need to increase or decrease depending on the size of your tub)
3) Immerse yourself in the water all the way up to your neck. You want as much of your body underwater as possible.
4) Soak for about 20 minutes and then get out out of the tub very slowly and cautiously. It can be normal to feel a little dizzy or light-headed (that’s the detoxing doing its magic!), but this will go away as you shower off quickly in cooler water.
Do not eat immediately before or after taking a detox bath.
5) Hydrate yourself with plenty of water before and and after your bath.
6) Allow time after your bath to rest and rejuvenate.

FAQ. DO YOUR KIDS HAVE EPSOM SALT BATHS?
They sure do! Often the kids will have baths throughout the day as an activity or just for calmness. And often add epsom salts too! And all of the calming essential oils like peace and calming and gentle baby. It has become a routine after school if not out on another activity, for them each to have their own relaxing bath and let go of the day. Both the kids have the same genetic mutation with a different variant to myself, it’s important they also have support in detoxification.
