Add Nature

Every week for the last decade I have dedicated a day to foraging and sprinkling flowers, plants or foliage around my home. In my teenage years I moved home a lot, and there were two things my mother and I always did when settling into the new property, one make our beds and two get some flowers for a vase in the kitchen! It brought a sense of calm and belonging to the new home. Fast forward to Ben and I purchasing our current property, even throughout the years of renovating, I have set aside a day to forage or grab $5 in season flowers to bring life and joy to the corners we saw and lived in. Ever wanted to make a new home feel welcoming and happy? Add Nature. Want to add the finishing touches to a styled space? Add Nature! Want to purify and clean the air naturally. Add Nature! Want to feel grounded, more calm and peaceful? Add Nature friend!

A review published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health concluded that exposure to indoor plants is associated with improved overall well-being, including feelings of happiness and satisfaction with life.

7 Reasons to add nature to your home

  • Plants and nature add a homey feel, texture, & brighten a space instantly. Making any space feel lived in and cared for.

  • Studies suggest that being around nature can enhance cognitive function, leading to increased creativity and productivity.

  • Plants provide a dimension of form, scale and even colour!

  • Styling nature in your home throughout the seasonal changes is one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to transform the aesthetic of your home. For example simply adding autumnal branches into a vase can make you feel warm and cosy during the cooler months.

  • Plants can help improve indoor air quality by removing toxins and releasing oxygen, creating a healthier environment for you to live in. (Research shows that the level of indoor pollution is 5 times higher than outside! This comes down to what we use in our home. See more on this blog post)

  • Being around plants and greenery has been shown to improve mood and increase feelings of happiness and well-being.

  • Whether a potted plant, vase of flowers or a foraged branch, nature can add the finishing touches to a styled space!

Incorporating nature into your home may seem straightforward, yet surprisingly, many overlook this simple practice. It doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. A simple bunch can transform in how your space looks and how feels in a matter of seconds, and is one of my key steps to loving where you live

Can also be a science experiment and doesn’t have to be fancy!
