Seasonal Cleanse

Do you ever feel the urge for a cleanse at the start of a new season? Personally, I've always found joy in revitalising the spaces within my home as the seasons shift. When they feel 'fresh' I feel personally feel cleansed!

We often experience more joy and ease when we undergo a seasonal cleanse and refresh for several reasons. Firstly, decluttering and tidying our home can alleviate feelings of overwhelm and stress, creating a sense of lightness and freedom. Removing clutter and items that no longer serve a purpose allows us to prioritise what truly matters to us, in turn creating a greater connection and appreciation for our surroundings. Secondly, a seasonal cleanse provides an opportunity to reset and rejuvenate both mentally and physically! Looking to make your home feel more fresh? Today, I'm excited to share five simple yet effective ideas and steps to help you cleanse and refresh your home, getting it ready for the new season!

Less Chaos, MoreCalm

Are you living the life you truly desire, or do you have bigger goals?

  1. Clarify Your Intentions: Before you begin, take a moment to clarify your intentions for the seasonal cleanse. Ask yourself what you hope to achieve with this cleanse. Are you aiming to create a more peaceful environment? By understanding your intentions, you can tailor your efforts to align with your goals. Personally, I am always striving to make my home feel calm and cohesive. Then I implement steps to make it happen…

  2. Deep Clean: Kick off the new season by giving your home a thorough deep and purifying clean. Opt for natural cleaners to help purify the air in your home and dust all surfaces, including shelves, skirtings, and ceiling fans. Vacuum and mop floors, and don't forget to clean windows and window sills. A clean slate sets the tone for a fresh start!

  3. Declutter and Organise: Take the opportunity to declutter and organise your home, one room at a time. But instead of just tidying up, approach decluttering with a purposeful mindset. Sort through closets, cabinets, and drawers, using my three box method, keep, donate, recycle and ask yourself, does this serve a purpose? Let go of items that no longer align with your values or support your desired lifestyle. Donate or repurpose items that are still in good condition but no longer serve you. Implement storage solutions that are functional for your needs, and maintain a tidy environment throughout the season. Tidy home, tidy home. 4. Rotate Seasonal Decor: Swap out decor items to reflect the changing season. Bring in elements like fresh flowers, seasonal foliage, or textiles to add a touch of the season's spirit to your home. For example, mix up the throw cushions with a few seasonal colours or layer a rust coloured throw on the arm of your sofa for Autumn. This can instantly breathe new life into your space and create a cosy ambiance.

  5. Purify the air: Purifying the air is wonderful for a home cleanse! The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that indoor air can be two to five times more polluted than outdoor air on average, and in some cases, even up to 100 times more polluted. This comes down to indoor air pollutants. Simple ways to naturally purify your home could include regularly ventilating by opening windows, choosing natural cleaning products, dusting regularly, adding indoor houseplants, nature and diffusing purifying essential oils.

Insider tip to lessen overwhelm-

  • Break it Down: Instead of trying to tackle everything at once, break your deep cleaning tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. Focus on one room or area at a time, and divide tasks into smaller tasks that you can complete in short increments.

  • Prioritise: Start with the areas that need the most attention or that you use the most frequently. This could be high-traffic areas like the kitchen, living room, or bathroom. Prioritising tasks can help you feel a sense of accomplishment as you work through your cleaning checklist.

  • Set a Timer: Set a timer for a specific amount of time, such as 15 or 30 minutes, and focus on your task until the timer goes off. Breaking tasks into short bursts of focused cleaning can help you stay on track and prevent burnout.
