Nutrients

Increasing and consuming a nutrient-rich diet composed of whole, minimally processed foods. Focusing on eating a variety of colourful fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, high-quality proteins, and whole grains to obtain essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. Also acknowledging supplementation may be necessary to address nutrient deficiencies or support specific health concerns. You can see ALL the supplements we take as a family on this post and why!

Top Pick- Ningxia Red for the kids

Even with a perfect diet, the combination of many things –including our depleted soils, the storage and transportation of our food, genetic alterations of traditional heirloom species, and the increased stress and nutritional demands resulting from a toxic environment – make it impossible for us to get the vitamins and minerals we need solely from the foods we eat!

Thus taking a multivitamin is essential. This is a great podcast by Dr Hyman, Dr. Elizabeth Boham, and Dr. James DiNicolantoni on why we need to turn to certain supplements to combat the nutritional deficiencies—like vitamin D, magnesium, omega 3 fatty acids, and more!

Ningxia Red is a powerful antioxidant supplement drink made from wolfberry puree, blueberry, plum, cherry, aronia, and pomegranate juices, grape seed extract, Yuzu, Tangerine, Lemon and Orange essential oils, stevia and pure vanilla extract for flavour, and naturally occurring preservatives for stabilisation.

Ningxia Red supports immune function, liver function, and eye health and is reported to increase energy. (I can tell you it's more than reported to increase mine. I can tell within minutes how different I feel after drinking it!)

It is the highest known protection against the dangerous superoxide free radicals, as documented in the S-ORAC test conducted by Brunswick Laboratories. It is rich in ellagic acid, polyphenols, flavonoids, vitamins, and minerals. In addition, it has 18 amino acids, 21 trace minerals, beta-carotene, and vitamins B1, B2, B6, and E.

It is an excellent whole-food source of nutrients that gives energy and strength to the body without harmful stimulates. It also has an amazing low glycemic index of 11 that does not spike the blood sugar levels. Read all about our ningxia red friend here, and where to get it!

Ningxia Red bone broth Tea- (for travel we have used Nature organics powered bone broth)

Our kids love to drink 60 ml of ningxia a day, though often especially during school term, they will have a ningxia bone broth. Which includes half a sachet of ningxia red, teaspoon of manuka honey (above 500mgo.) 4 tablespoons of chicken bone broth, (locally made, frozen liquid organic) and topped with hot water.

Mineral Sunscreen:

This formulation is made with pure, naturally derived ingredients and is free of avobenzone, oxybenzone, retinyl palmitate, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, PABA and 1,4-dioxane, UV chemical absorbers, artificial colors, and synthetic fragrances. Mineral sunscreen has No chemicals, non greasy easy coverage and good for your skin. It feel soooo smoothe when you apply it. Instead of toxic chemicals, it offers broad-spectrum SPF protection using naturally derived plant and mineral based ingredients, including non-nano zinc oxide—a physical UV blocker. It is smooth to apply and leaves no sticky residue or smell!

• KEY INGREDIENTS: Non-nano zinc oxide, Buriti fruit oil, Raspberry seed oil, Ucuuba nut butter, Helichrysum essential oil, carrot seed essential oil, lavender essential oil and myrrh essential oils. (Liquid gold essential oils for protecting your skin and ageing)

Chemical sunscreens: Many chemical sunscreens contain avobenzone, oxybenzone, retinyl palmitate, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, PABA and 1, 4-dioxane, UV chemical absorbers, artificial colors, and synthetic fragrances. These work by chemically absorbing UV light, but they also present the potential for system toxicity. The FDA recently ran an exploratory maximal usage trial measuring just how much of topical sunscreen products our bodies absorb when following correct usage instructions. Words like avobenzone, oxybenzone, ecamsule, and octocrylene already sound intimidating; it’s even scarier to find out that they are the chemicals found in most common sunscreens and cosmetics. These chemicals are active ingredients in most commercially available products. In a recent study published in a peer-reviewed journal, researchers found that after using sunscreens with these ingredients as active compounds, those chemicals were detected in the bloodstream.
