Gifts created at home
I am one for using what I have and creating something wonderful to give to another. It always feels personal and warming to receive a homely DIY gift.
Keep reading below for 8 simple gift ideas for your friends and loved ones.
DIY KIDS ART
Do you have lots of kids artwork scattered about your home? And the attachment to keep it for them, or for you is now getting out of hand?! Yes Iβve been there. Last year I created a dedicated area for artwork, a cork board in their craft area outside to pin their βfavourite and best work.β It has definitely minimised the stack of artwork being kept and encouraged them to work on their artwork for a few days before starting something newβ¦And the joy in their faces in pinning their βchosenβ artwork is priceless!
If you have a pile of kids art to shift through, pick the very best, (their faves or yours) and hang them on your wall!I love how kids art when placed next to your vintage or current pieces in your home can create a totally unique, whimsical and contemporary feel!
HERB JARS GIFT
Do you have herbs in your garden? A jam jar you can reuse?
Well this gift is EASY!! And so cute!
Grab three jars from your pantry, fill them with soil and cut some herb clippings from your garden. Tie some hessian and twine around the middle and thats it! Easy to keep on the windowsill or replant in the garden.
If you donβt have any herbs in the garden, nip to your local garden centre and grab a few for under $10.
LAVENDER SLEEP SACHET
As a child I grew up with little lavender pillows in my bed and in my clothes drawers. My mother used to make them cutting herbs from the garden and with rice and sewing them into little pillows. Oh the smell is so familiar and somewhat nostalgic. Not to mention calming. This makes a lovely gift idea for loved ones friends. Who doesnβt love their beds smelling like lavender?!
Here is my recipe, I added a drops of lavender essential oil to maximise the long lasting scent.
1/4 cup rice
1/4 cup dried (no fragrance added) lavender petals
20 drops lavender essential oil
Combine together and put into a breathable drawstring sack.
TERRACOTTA PLANT POT

Everyone loves a plant!! If you have some in your garden that you grow, simply take a cutting of your chosen plant and put into a a terracotta pot. There is something effortless and timeless about a terracotta pot it makes it classic and feel expensive!

DIY Bath Bombs
All Natural DIY bath bombs for everyone!
My kiddies LOVE these bath bombs, they are so easy to make, no fragrances or any hidden nasties. Too many times I would be left with scratchy and irritated skin after using shop bought bath bombs. Anyone else? So happy to make our own, they smell and leave your skin feeling amazing! It also makes the cutest gift.
Ingredients
2 tbsp epsom salts
3 tbsp melted coconut oil
1 tsp water
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid
Silicone molds
1/2 cup Rose petals
3 drops stress away Essential Oil
1 drop lavender essential oil
Method
Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix together. In a separate bowl combine melted coconut oil, one drop stress away essential oil and three drops lavender essential oil and stir together. Slowly add the mixture to the dry ingredients adding the 1 teaspoon of water. Continue to stir together until you create a shortbread like consistency. Add in the rose petals.
Scoop the mixture into silicone moulds and set aside (room temp) for 8-10 hours till mixture has hardened. Once firm put into an airtight container (or Old Jam jar! ) Wrap some ribbon around the jar, add a little foliage, and thatβs it!
