5 Ways to make your bedroom more cosy this Winter.

Winter styling is all about layers. Instead of turning up the heater, look to warm up your bed by opting for wool or linen textures and lots of layers. You want texture and fabric that feels soft, comfortable but slightly weighted as you nestle into bed during the cooler months.

Step one: Make your bed more inviting with layers. Research shows that the pressure from weighted blankets prepares your body for rest by calming your heart rate and breathing, they help your body to calm down enough to get the sleep it needs so you can wake up feeling refreshed. Check the toggle on your duvets and layer up with cosy blankets. I love to layer linen weighted throws. Bonus tip, keep an extra throw styled on the end of your bed for wrapping yourself in whilst you enjoy reading a book in the evening.

Step Two: Add warmer tones through the use of objects and textiles such as books, bowls or trinkets and textiles. Layer the bed with rich colours and texture using a variety of throw pillows.

Step Three: Plants! Add a vase of fresh flowers, seasonal foliage or succulents to your bedside dresser. Better yet, add a plant ! Flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods. This particular study, participants reported feeling less depressed, anxious and agitated after receiving flowers, and demonstrated a higher sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction. Flowers make intimate connections. Go treat yourself and brighten up your bedroom this Winter with some flowers on hour bedside table or dresser.

Step Four: Ditch the overhead lighting and create ambience with a bedside lamp. Nothing is cosier than setting the vibe of mood lighting for a good nights rest.

Step Five: Diffuse Winter cosy scents for relaxation, Winter blues and a good nights sleep. You can see all my favourite oils to start with for diffusing here.
