Office Desk Design Board
A goal without a plan is just a wish! Today, I am excited to share my vision board/design board for the office space. A home is a feeling, so I always start with how I want to feel in that space. Below is a reminder of the chosen words I have picked for the office. For any project I undertake, big or small, it starts with a mood and concept and then leads into a design board. If you are new to design, a design board helps clarify your vision by visually representing your ideas, inspirations, and personal preferences. It provides a clear reference point for the overall aesthetic and style you want to achieve in your project.
Creating a design board is a valuable practice in the design process for several key reasons. Firstly, it enhances visualisation by bringing your ideas to life, allowing you to see how different elements work together and achieve your design goals effectively. Secondly, it provides clear direction, helping to combat decision fatigue and design paralysis, streamlining the selection process, and aiding in making more confident decisions. Thirdly, a design board can save money by preventing costly mistakes and ensuring more intentional and informed choices throughout your project.

I'm particularly thrilled about the cabinetry design in this project. My vision was to seamlessly integrate functionality and aesthetics, especially when it came to concealing the AC unit while ensuring proper ventilation. To achieve this, I conceptualised the desk with wire mesh cabinetry door fronts. Not only does this choice offer a luxurious and charming touch with its brass patina, but it also serves a functional role. Additionally, I opted to incorporate paneling for the back of the floating shelves, elevating the design by adding depth and definition to the overall style.

Here are five simple steps to make a design board on Canva:
Create a New Design:
Go to Canva and log in or sign up for a free account. Click on "Create a design" and choose a custom size or a pre-set template like "Mood Board" or "Presentation."
Select a Layout:
Browse Canva’s templates by searching for "mood board" or "design board" to find a layout that suits your project. Click on your chosen template to start editing.
Upload Your Materials:
Upload your images, colour palettes, and other materials by clicking the "Uploads" button on the left toolbar. You can also use Canva’s library to find images, icons, and graphics. You can use ‘background’ remover in google for a free background remover tool if you do not have canva pro.
Arrange Your Elements:
Drag and drop your uploaded materials and elements from Canva’s library onto the template. Arrange them to create a cohesive visual story. Adjust sizes, positions, and layers as needed to achieve the desired look.
Customise and Finalise:
Customise your design board by adding text, changing colours, and adjusting the layout to better match your vision. Once you’re satisfied, save and download your design, or share it directly from Canva with team members or clients.
