Ease and Joy for the holidays
Whether you could use these tips for today, the weekend to mindfully slow down and enjoy, or you have reached the end of the school term and slipping into the holidays, these steps will help you bring a sense of ease and joy to your day.
Plan Ahead: Take the time to plan your holiday activities in advance, but don't over-schedule yourself. Leave plenty of room for spontaneity and relaxation. Create a flexible itinerary that allows for downtime and enjoyment without feeling rushed. Whether it's spending a day at the beach, going for a hike, or simply lounging at home with a good book, prioritise activities that help you unwind and recharge. Learn to say no to activities or events that don't align with your priorities or values. This will help prevent overcommitment and burnout, (I’ve been there!) it will allow you to focus on what truly matters to you during the holidays.
Disconnect and Unplug: Set boundaries with technology and give yourself permission to disconnect from emails, social media, and work-related tasks during your holiday. (We always set boundaries for kid TV time too.) Instead, focus on being present with your loved ones and fully immersing yourself in the holiday experience.
Practice Self-Care: There is always a chance to prioritise self-care and well-being. Do not put it off. Dedicate time to activities that nourish your mind and body, such as exercise, meditation, journaling, or indulging in your favourite hobbies. Take care of yourself rest and rejuvenate, even if it’s a DIY epsom salt bath.
Family Team Project: Get the family together and channel your creativity and passion into a home project with an outcome you will love! This could be simply picking a room together to declutter and organise, or creating a cosy corner in your home for Autumn!
Plan Meaningful Activities: Schedule activities that everyone can participate in and enjoy. This could include cooking a meal together, a picnic in the garden, playing board games, or having a movie night!
