The Power of Paint

I have a deep appreciation for paint because of its incredible simply ability to bring vibrancy and life into spaces! It has the power to turn somber and lacklustre areas into ones that are radiant and inviting! It can easily elevate the mundane and uninspiring to a level of cheerfulness and vitality. Additionally, it has the capacity to rejuvenate worn and weathered surfaces, making them appear fresh and beautiful.

One of the most common questions I receive is, "Could you share the paint colours you've used in your home? Keep reading for all the paint colours of our home.

Exterior โ€” Before & After

Click here for the thought process, mood board and inspiration behind the exterior colours of our home.

We chose to paint our 1950โ€™s red brick home in a soft and neutral palette. Itโ€™s reflective of our surroundings which is close to the beach in sunny Australia. And, I really do LOVE white painted brick houses, In my eyes, white brick houses will forever be classic and timeless, so what better than to paint your home with something you will always love! Our garden is full of lush greenery that we planted to complement the colours of the exterior and our dream to have a tropical oasis. We were intentional about pairing the subtle sage green of the succulents to match the sage green of the windows. You can read more about it on this postโ€ฆ

EXTERIOR PAINT COLOURS:

  • Exterior:  Feather Soft Dulux - Weather Shield Maxi Flex

  • Windows & Doors: Pencil Pine - British Paints

  • Deck: Grey Mist Cutek Stain/Sealer

  • Shed: Ace of Spades - British paints

Our Interior palette is similar to the exteriors โ€” light, airy and fresh, with the exception of our shed and planters. We decided to paint the shed black to make it look smarter! Letsโ€™s face it, itโ€™s a fairly ugly shed, and painted black it seamlessly ties everything together.

When choosing paint it can be overwhelming, something that helps narrow down the selection, along with working with the surroundings, size, area and purpose of the space, I always ask โ€œ How do I want to feel within that space? How do I want my family or guests to feel within that space?โ€ The Psychology of Colour and emotions are so closely linked we have the power to set the tone of how we truly want to feel within a space!

A lot of the time I want all the calm and fresh feels. Living in a home full of natural light in sunny Australia with two little ones, light and bright spaces with soothing colours bring me so much joy! (Though itโ€™s not to say I donโ€™t love dark and moody spaces in the right setting too.) A neutral backdrop as a base gives me the freedom to experiment with colour, pattern and texture through home furnishing, focal points, art, textiles and wallpaper, all punching contrast and character into our home! Have fun with paint, test samples, go for it! And hey, if you donโ€™t like it, itโ€™s just paint.Try another.

Our interior palette is light, airy and fresh. We chose matte wash and ware for the walls because this is easily wipeable, looks fresh, easy to touch up โ€” Hereโ€™s the names of the paint we used for our homes interior.

  • Walls: Vivid White Dulux - Matte Wash & Ware

  • Trims & Architraves: Vivid White Dulux - Aqua Enamel Satin

  • Ceilings: Ceiling Professional Dulux

  • Kitchen cabinets- Black Granite Taubmans

  • Bunk Bed Colour: Still Green - British Paints
